The Startup Incubator Berlin started its new support program EXIST Women with a batch of ten impressive female founders which had been selected at the Pitch Night in January. Their startup ideas range from AI solutions, Tunesian product imports, high-end e-commerce or SAAS solutions up to a health app and an institute focusing on diversity management.

We are proud to have strong partners with the Berliner Sparkasse and WLounge as well as the Business Angel Club Berlin Brandenburg e.V. to support us with the program. In addition, we collaborate with other universities in Berlin and share our events and workshops for female founders.

To extend our support beyond our participants in the EXIST Women programm, we dedicate our two-week Lean Startup Sprint (February 20th – March 1st, 2024) to future female founders and host a female-only edition. The free program includes several workshops, coaching, peer learning and a UX-Testing. You will learn all about prototyping, marketing and branding, “Attitude as a Super Power” or financial planning.

On December 15, 2022, we hosted the last event of the year 2022 – UX-MAS – together with our friends from the BHT Startup Hub and  Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft Berlin. It was a successful event, joining forces from these three universities to bring 12 startup teams on stage for a UX Testing of their products and ideas, to invite the Berlin startup ecoysytem for networking, to celebrate the successful year and to say thank you to our management – Elli from BHT Startup Hub, Sarah and Daniel from HTW InnoTechHub, Matthias and Marvin from the HWR Startup Incubator Berlin.

This past year alone, the three universities of applied sciences in Berlin supported an impressive number of 79 startups in 4 different incubation and acceleration programs! And many more to come next year…

We were also very grateful that we had the chance to collect donations for the Berliner Krebsgesellschaft through a charity bazar. Special thanks belong to the generous contributions of books by Diederichs Verlag, Kösel Verlag and Murmann Verlag for the good cause. The total amount raised that evening was 826,48 EUR – so thank you all very much for your donation, support and for joining us at this memorable event!

The Business Plan Wettbewerb Berlin Brandenburg (BPW) invited several players to join forces in order to present you with a digital matching event that might kickstart your business journey.

The event is divided into three slots:

10:00 – 11:00 h Startups looking for IT / Coding / Software Engineering

11:00 – 12:00 h Startups looking for Operations Management / Finance

12:00 – 13:00 h Startups looking for Biologists, Chemists, Pharmacists

In each session the startups present themselves first with a 60 seconds Elevator Pitch. Afterwards they split up on individual tables for you to join them and introduce yourself. You are welcome to move around and get to know all startups.

Berlin Partner / Berlin Startup Unit Invites Female Founders to a Virtual Coffee Break

According to the Female Founders Monitor 2020, only 16% of startup founders are women. Despite their high qualifications and entrepreneurial ambitions, they remain significantly underrepresented at the top of the business world.

The Diversity Working Group of the Berlin Startup Unit is dedicating a new event series to topics of gender diversity. The first virtual coffee break “Give Me a Break – Coffee Break for Female Founders“ addresses as its first topics intercultural diversity, financing and funding, male-dominated structures, and the compatibility of family and founding a business.

Nadine Jüdes, Head of Digital Economy/Startups at Berlin Partner für Wirtschaft und Technologie GmbH, emphasizes: “We have a strong interest in activating and strengthening the potential of female founders for the Berlin startup ecosystem, and we look forward to interesting results and food for thought from the discussion rounds.”

In 2015, the State of Berlin, together with partners from the startup industry, established the Berlin Startup Unit as a collaborative project to improve the framework conditions for young and fast-growing companies. We will use the platform wonder.me for our virtual fair where you can move around freely in a virtual space and participate in an immersive face-to-face experience.

Their goal is to reproduce the entire meeting discussion in a clear yet compact documentation, and to do so without taking notes manually. To reach this, the meeting is recorded and transcribed. With the help of AI the transcription is converted into smart meeting notes.

Thing

Thing deploys robots that help elderly people age at home more safely and for longer. They combine supervisory features, like fall-detection and 24/7 care support, with easy connections to their primary care network & communities.

Demo Day 2020: Experience Innovation – 13.11.2020 starting @ 2 pm

During the Career-Week of the HWR Berlin, from November 9th until November 14th 2020, the Demo Day of the Startup Incubator Berlin will take place on November 13th – this year completely remote and still with a full program including three special guest speakers: Arne Schäufele, Ghazaleh Koohestanian, Sebastian Pioch!

Our startups will be presenting an impressive variety from different industries, such as Forget Finance, the first digital financial advisor that makes it possible for everyone to plan the financial future holistically on the smartphone, or Thing, creators of robots with monitoring functions such as fall detection for elderly people or the online platform Careloop, which connects qualified nurses from abroad with clinics and nursing facilities in Germany.
