3D Printing
From the CAD model to the part — layer by layer, iteration by iteration.
Usable today · 3D printingThis is the workbench for your prototype, with an induction, the equipment and the team by your side. The Maker Lab is open to participants in the SIB programmes and to HWR members interested in founding. CIC members use it under the framework agreement. External users case by case: write to us and we will sort out the arrangement.
The SIB Maker Lab is the prototyping workshop of Startup Incubator Berlin — the place where an idea becomes something you can hold in your hands. It is the sister of the SIB Media Lab: there you build the story, here you build the prototype.
Workshop, equipment and induction in one place. You work on your own project — the team is there when you need it.
Workshop · Equipment · InductionFunding, stipend and mentoring run through the SIB-programmes. The lab is the workshop that goes with them — not a funding programme of its own.
via the SIB-programmesFrom the first printed part to the trade-fair demo. Five areas, three of them usable today: 3D printing, laser (supervised) and electronics. Wood and metal as well as textile and finish are being set up.
From the CAD model to the part — layer by layer, iteration by iteration.
Usable today · 3D printingCutting and engraving: front panels, stencils, housing parts. Always as a supervised session.
Usable today · Laser (supervised)Solder, measure, flash — until your sensor board runs.
Usable today · ElectronicsCutting, drilling, enclosures — for chassis and trade-fair demos.
Being set up · Wood & metalSewing, upholstery, surface finishing — the final touch.
Being set up · Textile & finishThe equipment catalogue shows the confirmed inventory and distinguishes direct booking, supervised requests and setup.
Short, hands-on, once per equipment group — after that you work on your own. Three levels, one system:
Workbenches and hand tools — after a short basic induction you work independently.
Machines with their own induction — once per equipment group, then you are cleared.
The Formlabs Form 4 and the laser run supervised only. We are with you.
The traffic light explains our induction model — it is not a contract excerpt. More on the Induction & access page →
In five steps: 1. account, 2. usage rules, 3. induction, 4. book, 5. build and document. It starts on the registration page.
You get your account via the registration page. Tell us who you are and what you want to build.
You accept the usage agreement in your account. It is the basis for any use.
Short and hands-on in the lab: the basic induction and, where needed, the device-specific one.
Once inducted you book your machines yourself. Supervised machines you request as a session.
You build your thing. What you solve along the way goes briefly into the workshop knowledge base.
A lab duo at CIC: Media Lab for the story, Maker Lab for the prototype. Both are offers of Startup Incubator Berlin.
Studios, gear and know-how for your media production — live streaming, video, podcast, photo.
